It's finally here!!

Going to go to the Olde English Faire up near Peoria today!! Really been looking forward to this!! Knights, archers, everything medieval--who could ask for anything more? I read online that they have tents up in case of bad weather, so I'm not going to let the rain stop me from going.

Hopefully will get lots of cool pics!

Maybe will get around to an update tonight. Maybe... :D

Tried to pick up my final project portfolio that I had turned in for my literature class last semester.... only to find the arts & humanities office locked up--at 3 in the afternoon. Really? You get to go home that early? I mean, the college is already closed on Fridays for the summer anyway. So I go down to academic services and complain--because I'd done everything they asked me: emailed my professor (who replied saying he would stop by the office and drop it off *today*) and show up on the appointed day within regular business hours. And this is *after* a week and a half ago when I first tried to get my portfolio back---the same portfolio that my prof was supposed to have dropped off to the office at the end of last semester, which was several weeks ago.

Had to complain a bit, but finally they had someone open the office--whole process took only a few minutes: open door, go to shelf, retrieve binder in plain sight, leave. Seriously--what was so difficult about that? You couldn't have done that last week? Or, better yet--had them open up my prof's office and just get it from there? But no, apparently arts & humanities can't get into their prof's offices unless the prof says so....

It's *my* intellectual property *and* I showed up to pick it up exactly when I told my prof I would. Said professor is on sabbatical for six months now.....the people that work in the arts & humanities office could have saved themselves a lot of trouble if they'd just opened his office and gotten it for me in the first place. I really don't understand why this was so difficult....

To top it off, on the way home a car decided to ride my bumper down the highway. I would have understood if I had been going slow or something, but I was already speeding myself, so you can wait until I pass the guy I'm obviously going to pass, right?

Everything was explained when, as he passed me, I saw he was from New York....figures.

I also fell asleep last night just before Matt got home, and since he has to go into work two hours early on wed and thurs now, I got to spend ten minutes with him today. :(

On the other hand, we're under the 30 day mark for when he comes to visit--so that's a good thing :)

Just to confirm something: I will never be a supermodel, nor will I ever--no matter how hard I try--look like one. I doubt that I will ever attain and maintain the perfect tan. My boobs will never be that big or perky, my stomach will never be that flat, and my ass will never be that small. No matter how much I work out, I will never look that damn good. Trust me, I wish I could.... but somewhere along the line, fantasy gives way to reality, and while I can work out, lose weight, and tone up, the end results will *still* not be that good.

If you're willing to donate several thousand dollars to the cause, I will gladly seek the only possible avenue to address some of the above issues.

If you're not, then I suggest you avert your gaze to others whose appearance is more to your liking.

I apologize you have to gaze upon the imperfection that is me.

Trust me, there are some days when I wish I didn't have to do that either....

Work...

So I ended up working today-got the call early this morning. I hate missing classes, but really can't tell work 'no' either.... Made sure to email my professors about the situation--hopefully the classes I miss won't impact my grade *too* much. Extra money is nice, but I *have* to pass these classes. *sigh*

So got to work, sorted the mail, opened the office, and then got a call from my officer-in-charge. She told me that her postmaster will be out of the office the rest of the week (the postmaster's husband is seriously ill and may not even make it through his surgery today). Wish I could take the extra hours, but I have a quiz in math and a paper due tomorrow--so really can't miss tomorrow. I was aready working half a day on Friday, so might see about rescheduling my doctor's appointment that I have that afternoon. Hate doing that, as I've already rescheduled it several times. Will just have to make it through today and see what happens....

Class or no class...

So I got a call from my boss awhile ago, might have to go into work tomorrow. Apparently my OIC's boss had to take her husband to the hospital tonight. He's been very ill, and it's an off and on again thing. I won't find out until tomorrow morning, and while I'll definitely appreciate the extra funds, I wish I didn't have to miss school.

On the other hand, at least it's not on a Friday when I'm supposed to have a quiz in math... Hope everything is okay with Kelly and her husband.

And in typical style, it's been quite the break. While it's been quite the break from journaling, things have continued to happen--though more good things now than bad, which is a nice change!

So, to catch up on current events, here's the short version: I'm now divorced, moved from Oklahoma to Illinois (back to my family), my ex has remarried (a month after our divorce was finalized-go figure), I've completed one semester of college since being here and will have my associates after I finish the two classes I'm currently enrolled in for the summer (yay!), and I'm in a great relationship with a wonderful guy named Matt :)

Should probably add in that I got to spend this past weekend with my kids and we had a great time going to the Farmersville Irish Days Festival. As they spend the summer with their dad, this was a great time for us--was great to see them. I miss them lots.... but at least I still have George to come home to and cuddle with (George being the cat). I'll have to post some pics of George later :)

I've also decided to join the SCA. I have some friends that belong, and they love it--have told me lots about it. And really, what's not to love? Medieval fairs, recreating history, dressing up in period costumes..... sounds perfect! First event I'm going to attend is this coming weekend-- the Olde English Faire. I'll be sure to post a review and some pictures! Going to try to get my sister and one of my nieces to come along too. Will have to see if that works out though!

Besides that, I miss my friends in Oklahoma dearly... It's just not the same without them. Made a run down there on Memorial Day and managed to drop in at their cook out for a few hours. Wasn't nearly enough time...

Found out last night that I'm going to be able to attend the Middle Tennessee Anime Convention!! I've been wanting to go to it for a couple of years now, so I'm really looking forward to it. On top of getting to go, I'm getting a free pass *and* a free place to stay!

This weekend is going to be awesome! Now I just have to figure out which kimonos I want to take. :)

Windy days...

It's been lovely here the past few days--just the right temperature and windy. I ran across this quote awhile back, and now seems to be the perfect time to post it. I posted it very early this morning on my Facebook page--the first thing I've ever posted there. It just seemed so appropriate last night though, after standing outside when it was all quiet, and feeling the wind blow by. :)

I can't believe I'm doing this...

but as we speak, I'm in EVE Online waiting for a large-scale Corp mission! I caved on 1 April and signed up for a trial account (which I will be converting to a regular account at the end) and am now a miner with The Zohar Project. I have to say, that even though I don't know a lot as of yet, it is a ton of fun-and I've met some people that I'm pretty sure will be great online friends. So I'm looking forward to seeing where this all goes. :)

1 April was also my anniversary-and no, I'm not joking. Overall, I just felt really sad and disappointed though. Kevin did send me a text message and some flowers, both of which were very nice and quite thoughtful of him. I thought about calling him, but it just felt all shades of awkward, so I settled for just texting him back. The card with the flowers said, Though I don't know where we're headed, I just want to let you know that I think about you every day. Was quite sweet actually. Definitely wasn't expecting that. I also had counseling that day, so it was a bit odd of a day all around.

Since I no longer hear from Tomas, I try to keep up with things through the sites that I know he frequents--as they're sites that I frequent as well. Had to laugh a bit though yesterday-for two reasons. Reason 1: I checked Nathalie's facebook (because she posts more frequently than he does), only to notice a friend of hers had asked for her phone number....which she posted *on her wall*. Not the brightest thing to do by far! Reason 2: when I checked Tomas' deviantart I noticed his avatar had been changed....to a picture of Edward from Twilight. It was one of those animated ones that showed the pic and then it said "Team Edward" after. I lol'd so hard. I just couldn't help it! I haven't watched Twilight at all, but the thought of Tomas being with "Team Edward" was just too funny. :D

Found out yesterday that Anthony's mom might have to move back to Phoenix, and if so, he'll have to decide whether he'll stay in OKC or move back with her. I know he misses his friends back there, but I know that people will miss him here as well--including me. I'm trying not to get upset, because it's not like anything has been decided yet, so I'll just have to be patient and wait to see what happens.

And now I'm off to EVE!

A great new show!

I've always enjoyed nature/wildlife shows, so loving The Discovery Channel's show Planet Earth was a given--as was watching their new show Life. It's an eleven part series narrated by Oprah Winfrey and so far, other than having to watch a few animals die-which i'm not fond of-I've really liked it. I'm four episodes into the series, which airs on Sunday nights. I definitely would encourage everyone to check it out. Not sure it's going to beat out Planet Earth, but an excellent show none-the-less. Maybe I should mention that it's in high def, which means that the visuals are amazing! :)

I did have to laugh a bit, as one of the episodes that aired this past Sunday was talking about Reindeer, and how when the flies annoy them too much, they move to higher ground where it's colder because the flies won't follow. Anthony made an observation that the reindeer should evolve and become like Pikachu so they could zap the flies. They would also have the voice of Sean Connery while the flies would have the face of Alex Trebec-a reference to an old SNL skit. It was so funny when he said that-doing the voices and everything-I lol'd *hard*. Was too much fun!

Anyway, I'm definitely looking forward to the next episodes. Too bad I have to wait for Sunday to come around though...

Seriously, if you're driving, learn to read *and follow* the road signs!

Merge when you're supposed to, and don't look shocked if I refuse to let you merge into my lane at the last minute. Be a responsible driver and get in the correct lane like everyone else did when they saw the sign that said 'right lane closed ahead'. Not doing so just shows everyone what an idiot you are.

For those of us here in the U.S. the health care reform was signed into law this past Tuesday. I'm still digging though all the info, but thought that I'd post these links here--for myself as well as anyone else who may be interested.

Tomas used to send me an 'album of the day' so that I would hear things that he liked or that I may like, but had never listened to. Discovered some great stuff that way. Have been missing it quite a bit lately, so I decided to go dl some stuff from the Ambient group that he started on Hexagon.

Time for me to go find something new-though definitely not as much fun as when he would send me stuff.

I miss him terribly, but it doesn't seem like he's going to come back...and that makes me incredibly sad.

Was able to get out and play some Magic last night! Was good to get out of the house for a bit and see people that I normally don't get to. Thankfully Anthony agreed to watch the kids for me so I could go. Mason went up to Little Shoppe with me-there were very few people there-I'm blaming the fact that it's now spring break. Actually, it was a nice change that it was such a small group-would be nice to play like that again sometime. I also got some new cards, so looking forward to seeing what I can do with them. Hopefully more than I did last night. It was not good-I lost... :( Oh well, better luck next time I guess!

Went with Thad, Tara, and Anthony to see Alice in Wonderland today. It was really good! Saw it in 3-D IMAX too. :) Definitely something to buy when it comes out on video. Loved what they did with the Cheshire Cat, but then, he always was my favorite character...I'm thinking about reading the book again, as it's been quite awhile. I think I have an annotated version around here somewhere...

Overall it was an excellent day. Had to deal with Kevin a bit on the phone, but that's to be expected-and it wasn't too bad. *shrugs* Definitely nothing to ruin it though, which is a good thing!
